Vision and mission of universities of technology in post-pandemic times, challenges of digital transformation, strategy, structures and procedures – these were the topics discussed during the 40th Conference of Rectors and Presidents
of European Universities of Technology.

The CRP 2022 meeting was held on 23-24September 2022 in Vienna on the premises of Vienna University of Technology. The Poznan University of Technology was represented by prof. Wojciech Sumelka, Vice-Rector for Research. During the meeting, issues related to sustainable development, innovation and entrepreneurship, the impact of science on society, engaging society in understanding science and technology, supporting equal opportunities regardless of gender, religion or ethnic origin, supporting employee development, and strengthening internationalization were discussed.

As part of the series of lectures ordered, the following guests presented their lectures: prof. Jan-Eric Sundgren (Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden), prof. Danny Shechtman (2011 Nobel laureate); prof. Mikhailo Zgurovsky (Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, Ukraine); prof. Ursula M. Staudinger (Technische Universität Dresden, Germany); prof. Ladislav Janíček (Brno University of Technology, Czech Republic); prof. Robert-Jan Smits (TU Eindhoven, The Netherlands); prof. Ilkka Niemela (Aalto University, Finland); prof. David FitzPatrick (Technological University Dublin, Ireland); prof. Günther Dissertori (ETH Swiss Institute of Technology, Switzerland); prof. Roberto Zanino (Politecnico di Torino, Italy) and prof. Eric Labaye (Ecole Polytechnique, France).

The significant conclusions resulting from the meeting are the following:

• the need to increase the interdisciplinary character of technical universities, in particular by broadly understood humanistic aspects;
• the need to include children and adolescents in research works due to the noticeable 'uninhibited' creative activity;
• obligatory implementation of modern techniques for teaching / study;
• the necessity to combine studies on artificial intelligence with ethics courses in the broad sense;
• intensification of activities on sustainable development;
• the necessity to combine research with the needs of society and the inclusion of society in active cooperation.
